8K VOLUNTEERS
Be a part of Chicago’s annual kickoff for the spring running season and support thousands of runners by volunteering at the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K Run and 2-Mile Walk on Sunday, March 23! Individual volunteer opportunities for race day are listed below.
All volunteers are required to register online individually by Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
Course marshals
Course marshals ensure the course stays clear of spectator and vehicle traffic and act as a source of information about the event and surrounding area. Course marshals will check in at a designated location in each of the following neighborhoods: River East, Printer’s Row/South Loop and The Loop.
- Shift: Sunday, March 23, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Age minimum: 18 years of age
- Volunteer guide: Registered volunteers will receive a course marshal volunteer guide to prepare for their volunteer role.

Information team
Assist race participants, spectators and other volunteers by providing general information, answering questions about the event and giving directions to key destinations in Grant Park.
- Shift: Sunday, March 23, 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Age minimum: 18 years of age
- Volunteer guide: Registered volunteers will receive an information volunteer guide to prepare for their volunteer role.

Start corrals
Join the excitement at the start line! Volunteers regulate access to the start corrals and assist with the forward progress of participants through the corrals.
- Shift: Sunday, March 23, 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Age minimum: 14 years of age
- Volunteer guide: Registered volunteers will receive a start corral volunteer guide to prepare for their volunteer role.
